The City of Valley was formed from four textile mill villages that for over 100 years were a vibrant center of textile manufacturing. But, as the fabric of the American textile industry slowly faded, Valley was faced with the daunting task of converting its economy from textile-based to something else. Chances had to be taken and changes had to be made for Valley to be a vital City in the future. Progressive, tough, and sometimes unpopular choices had to be made and the Mayor and City Council were willing to stand up and make them. Valley is now situated to make major economic advances in the near future. And, with KIA Motors locating a ‘stones throw’ from Valley, even greater advances are to be expected.
