Congratulations to the 12 & Under Boys basketball team for winning the Alabama Parks & Recreation State Basketball Tournament held March 15-16 in Albertville. This team also won the Alabama Parks & Recreation District Basketball Tournament held in Albertville March 1st. In addition, the 12 & Under Boys basketball team won the "Just Say No To Drugs" Dare Basketball Tournament held February 23rd in Sylacauga. This is the first time a team from Valley has won this tournament.
According to Bill Goggans, Valley Parks and Recreation coordinator for youth basketball the 12 & Under Boys basketball team was the first team to ever win all 3 of these tournaments in one year. That's quite an accomplishment. Congratulations team!
The 12 & Under Girls basketball team also won the Alabama Parks & Recreation District Tournament and participated in the State tournament.
Both teams were honored at the March 17th City Council meeting and presented Mayor Arnold Leak and the Council with autographed basketballs. These will be added to the trophy case at the Community Center.
