January 7 City Council Meeting

The Valley City Council held its first regular scheduled meeting of January on Monday, January 7th, 2019, in the Council Chambers at Valley City Hall.

Mayor Riley called the meeting to order at 6:00PM. The invocation was given by Councilmember Paul Story and Councilmember Jim Jones led the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were present.

The January 7th financial audit report for the city was given as follows:

  • Checking account previous balance........................... $2,937,542.63
  • Total deposits all funds.................................................... $948,152.44
  • Total expenditures all funds............................................. $612,989.82
  • Total on-hand all funds.................................................. $3,272,705.25

The following actions were taken by the city council at the January 7th meeting:

  • Approved the minutes from the December 10th, 2018, council meeting
  • Accepted the January 7th financial audit report
  • Approved unanimously the following resolutions on the Consent Agenda
    • Resolution 2019-001R giving authority to seek individual bids for the replacement of the roof at the Valley Police Department
    • Resolution 2019-002R accepting the $299.99 bid, which was the only bid received, from Willie James Redd of Lanett, for a 1995 Ford 150 Parks and Recreation Department vehicle that had previously been declared as surplus
    • Resolution 2019-003R declaring the Valley Community Center Pool Heater as surplus and allowing it to be sold as scrap metal
    • Resolution 2019-004R declaring a Planning & Development Department 1998 GMC 2500 Vin # ending in 40435 as surplus and allowing it to be sold as scrap metal
    • Resolution 2019-005R authorizing the Auburn Bank as the City of Valley’s principal depository
    • Resolution 2019-006R authorizing the installation of street lights at the following locations:
      • 6950 20th Avenue
      • 258 2nd Street
      • 120 Leta Lane
      • 1092 Whitesmill Road
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 2019-006R approving a Declaration of Restrictive Covenants on certain city-owned property
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 2019-007R approving an Access Easement Agreement with Four Star Freightliner

The mayor made the following announcements:

        1. The next council meeting will be January 28th at 6:00pm at Valley City Hall
