October 22nd City Council Meeting

The Valley City Council held its second regular scheduled meeting of October on Monday, October 22nd, 2018, in the Council Chambers at Valley City Hall.

Mayor Riley called the meeting to order at 6:00PM. Councilmember Henry Cooper was absent. The invocation was given by Councilmember Randall Maddux and Councilmember Marquetta Madden led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Prior to official council business, a public hearing was held on a Sales Tax Abatement for RCG-Valley LLC.

The October 22nd financial audit report for the city was given as follows:

  • Checking account previous balance......................... $2,616,516.88
  • Total deposits all funds................................................... $278,819.30
  • Total expenditures all funds............................................ $715,269.21
  • Total on-hand all funds................................................. $2,180,066.97

During the mayor’s communications, Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ashley Crane gave a quarterly report to the council.

The following actions were taken by the city council at the October 22nd meeting:

  • Approved the minutes from October 8th, 2018, council meeting
  • Accepted the October 22nd financial audit report
  • Approved unanimously the following resolutions on the Consent Agenda
    • Resolution 2018-153R awarding the 2018/2019 FY Tree Cutting Bid to Matthew & Jody’s Tree Service
    • Resolution 2018-154R awarding Baseline Forest Services the bid to cut timber on the Burney Tracts
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 2018-155R accepting the 2018/2019 FY City Budget
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 2018-156R approving an incentive agreement with RCG-Valley LLC
  • Approved unanimously  Resolution 2018-157R to purchase computer equipment from A-Com Integrated Solutions in the amount of $8,086.11
  • Approved unanimously  Resolution 2018-158R accepting an Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs Recreational Trails Program Grant in the amount of $277,200 with the city committing $69,300 in matching funds in the form of cash and in-kind services in support of the project

The mayor made the following announcements:

        1. City Hall will be closed on Monday November 12thfor Veterans Day Holiday.
        2. Next Council Meeting will be Tuesday, November 13that 6:00pm at Valley City Hall.
        3. Effective January 1st 2019 Issuance Fee for Business License will increase from $10 to $12.
