"We Got It All" is one of the City of Valley's favorite slogans and for retirees, it is a fact. We do have it all!
The climate in Valley is moderate, but we do have actual seasons. You can tell winter from summer, but you don't have to 'dig yourself out of a 4 foot snow drift' to do it. We have low taxes and NO PROPERTY TAX! We think that's a nice thing to have. Moreover, our property values are reasonable and affordable.
The county library, the H. Grady Bradshaw Chambers County Library, is located in the City of Valley and is well stocked with books, magazines, newspapers, CDs, DVDs, and more. In addition, The Cobb Memorial Archives, a comprehnsive collection point for the history of Chambers County, is part of the H. Grady Bradshaw Library. There are also computers with internet access for those who want to do a little 'web surfing', researching, or just computing. The City of Valley is only 30 minutes from Auburn University 's Ralph Draughn Library.
If you're looking for recreational opportunities, the City of Valley offers plenty.
We have a 54,000 sq.ft., state-of-the-art Community Center with a fantastic aquatic center, indoor walking track, racquetball courts, fitness room, and a multi-use community room that houses 2 full-sized gymnasiums. In addition, 6 tennis courts, 2 soccer fields, and a Sportsplex with 5 mulit-use ball fields are part of the Community Center Complex. Many local, regional, and state events are held at the Community Center and Sportsplex facilities. If you prefer your walks outside, there is a 7mile walking trail (Rails-To-Trails) that was made from the rail bed of the old Chattahoochee Valley Railroad. Future plans are to extend this trail down to and along the banks of the Chattahoochee River.
If you love golf, Valley is in an ideal location. We are situated about 30 minutes from both the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and the Callaway Gardens Golf Courses. There are many other lesser-known courses located within a short driving distance of Valley.
We also have many historic buildings and structures located throughout the City and we have a Historical Preservation Society to protect and restore them. In addition, we have an Arts Council to promote the Arts and our local artists and artisans. There are also Community Theater groups you can become a part of, if you have a little thespian in you.
So, you can see that in Valley, Alabama, 'We Do Have It All!"
