April 29th City Council Meeting

The Valley City Council held its second regular scheduled meeting of April on Monday, April 29, 2019, in the Council Chambers at Valley City Hall.

Mayor Riley called the meeting to order at 6:00PM. The invocation was given by Councilmember Jim Clark and Councilmember Jim Jones led the Pledge of Allegiance. All councilmembers were present.

The April 29th financial audit report for the city was given as follows:

  • Checking account previous balance............................ $3,944,460.47
  • Total deposits all funds................................................... $1,128,999.09
  • Total expenditures all funds............................................... $674,120.40
  • Total on-hand all funds.................................................... $4,399,339.16

During the mayor’s communications, the mayor called for a Public Hearing on May 13th to discuss consideration of a tax rebate for Krishna Valley Hospitality, LLC.

The following proclamation was presented to Sam Bradford representing Valley Haven School

            1. 2019 Valley Haven Hike/Bike/Run Week Proclamation

The following actions were taken by the city council at the April 29th meeting:

  • Approved the minutes from the April 8th council meeting
  • Accepted the April 29th financial audit report
  • Approved an alcohol license application for Family Dollar
  • Passed unanimously the following resolutions on the Consent Agenda
    • Resolution 2019-052R amending the Public Works Department 2019  Fiscal Year Budget by $20,093 for Insurance Recoveries
    • Resolution 2019-053R amending the City Hall Department 2019  Fiscal Year Budget by $800 for Insurance Recoveries
    • Resolution 2019-054R allowing the consumption of alcohol at a wedding reception to be held at the Valley Community Center on Saturday, September 7th
  • Passed unanimously Resolution 2019-055R amending the city’s contract with Mr. Greenjeans Sanitation Services, Inc. to include a $1 rate increase per house per month beginning with the July 1, 2019 billing cycle and a $1 rate increase per house per month beginning with the July 1, 2020 billing cycle
  • Passed unanimously Resolution 2019-056R authorizing Valley Police Chief Tommy Weldon to enter into a $1,398 one-year agreement with On-Line Information Services, Inc. to allow the Valley Police Department to access court dispositions to determine when evidence can be destroyed or disposed of
  • Passed unanimously Resolution 2019-057R, presented from the floor, accepting the bid from Baseline Forest Service for cutting 7 acres of  timber on the City’s Fairview Cemetery property
  • Passed unanimously Resolution 2019-058R, presented from the floor, accepting the petition by the city to annex the Wade Stuart property, previously purchased by the city, into the city limits
  • Suspended the rules and passed unanimously on its first reading Ordinance 2019-08 assenting to the annexation of the Wade Stuart Property into the City of Valley

The mayor made the following announcements:

       1. Reception honoring Lieutenant Frank Montroy will be held after council meeting in the
           conference room at City Hall
       2. Next Council Meeting will be Monday, May 13th, at 6:00 pm at Valley City Hall
       3. Due to Memorial Day, the 2nd Council Meeting in May will be Tuesday, May 28th at  
           6:00 pm at Valley City Hall

Council adjourned at 6:27PM.
