Valley Senior Center Contact Information

New to Valley, or have you lived here all your life? The Valley Senior Center, located in the Valley Community Center at 130 Sportsplex Drive,  is a great place to meet new friends or enjoy old friends.

The Center is open Monday – Friday.

To become a participant in the Senior Center Program, you must be sixty (60) years of age and live in the city limits of Valley or in a surrounding community that does not have a Senior Center.

We welcome you as a full-time or back-up participant. (Back-up participants are those who can’t come every day, but are welcomed in the program.)

Activities

The Senior Center has a large community room, game room and computer room. Activities include card games, dominoes, table tennis, and bingo as well as holiday parties and events. Quarterly trips are provided to places of interest in Alabama. The Valley Senior Center welcomes those age 60 and over to participate in social activities.

Meals

A hot lunch is provided to seniors ages 65 and over. Meals are provided for seniors that come to the center and are also delivered to the seniors that are homebound.  Meals are limited and participation may require the participant to be put on a waiting list. The program is funded by the City of Valley and Alabama Department of Senior Services.

Alabama State Masters Games

Masters Games of Alabama is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles for active adults age 50+.

Valley hosts the District 6 games every year; qualifying seniors at the district level to compete in the State Games. There is a small registration fee at both district and state levels which includes five meals, the fun walk, Parade of Athletes, Opening Ceremonies, a Dance, and a Banquet. Games include but are not limited to shuffleboard, softball throw, basketball throw, rook, dominoes and more.

Senior Center Transportation

The Senior Center uses 3 buses that deliver homebound meals. Transportation is provided for all interested seniors so that everyone has an opportunity to participate in all the activities. You may also make a voluntary confidential contribution for transportation services. This bus begins picking up the seniors at 9 AM. After all the meals for the ‘Homebound Meal Program’ have been delivered, the bus will then return those seniors needing transportation to their homes.
